By Hot Club De Paris
A few of my friends have been raving about Hot Club De Paris for quite a while now so I thought I'd take the opportunity to get acquainted with them via this single. Their poppy jangly sound of this single is very much of the moment and is not a million miles from The Wombats, Maccabees, and The Courteeners; not being a massive fan of those bands it's little surprise that Hot Club De Paris failed to win me over.
There's nothing bad about 'My Little Haunting' per se... it's a short, fairly catchy, indie-pop song whose lyrics on the surface may appear to be non-sense but the line "...in good time I'll exorcise that ghost of you that haunts my mind" gives the suggestion that the song may have a deeper meaning and that makes it a tad more satisfying. The b-side 'Everybody Got in Touch to Say Sorry' again is a breezy pop song very similar in sound but of the two was my favourite as it's lyrically stronger.
