By Enter Shikari
Ever since Enter Shikari blasted onto the scene five years ago, their post hardcore compositions that involve smashing together trance, hardcore and screamo vocals shot them very rapidly to stardom.
Fans may remember the demo of 'We Can Breathe In Space' from 2006, but due to popular demand, this tune, causing me to struggle not to jump up, and mosh around my lounge, is finally here. This is the first single release this year from Enter Shikari and it certainly doesn't disappoint. Opening with a melody that sounds like it belongs in Metal Gear Solid pays homage to the rather bizarre title. Roughton Reynold's irresistible and impressive range of vocals launch in before the song really kicks in.
It doesn't take long to realize this adaptation of the original is a vast improvement. The new music is crunchier than a curled up autumn leaf, the vocals razor sharp. Out of nowhere appears what sounds like dialogue from Star Wars, with Darth Vadar's eminent spine-chilling breathing. Pitch in echoing choruses, harmonies, and a wonderful blend of ambient, orchestral trance, the song ends on a soaring high, nothing short of epic.
They haven't seemed to broaden or experiment with their style, this is typical Shikari, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? That certain cliché certainly applies here.
