By Tin Soldiers
'Wait For You' by Tin Soldiers is a solid, light-rock ballad that follows firmly in the footsteps of Snow Patrol, Coldplay, and the like. It delivers everything you'd expect from this well-trod territory: soaring melodies, urgent vocals and a sprinkling of atmospheric synths. However, it has a slightly riff-heavy edge that prevents it from becoming just another paint-by-numbers indie ballad. Vocalist Rich is more than capable of blasting out those high notes, and the bridge section is given some interesting grit thanks to squealing guitars, which prevents this song from sounding like every other aspiring indie anthem out there.
However, while 'Wait For You' does maintain a slight edge over some of the competition, it's lacking that hard-hitting emotional truth the best indie ballads can deliver.
'Wait For You' is faultlessly executed, occasionally moving, and, interestingly, delivers both lush, urgent choruses and heavier moments. If you're looking for melodic indie with bite, you could do better than 'Wait For You,' but you could also do a whole lot worse.
