A band that's been bubbling under the radar for a few years now, this is the 2nd single from their 2nd album 'Replica Sun Machine'. The band themselves have described their sound as 'Victorian funk' and in the absence of a pithier comment, I will too. It's certainly very English, even the Swedish slanted vocals of singer Ulrika make it more English. The main track has a charming, bumbling quality but don't be suckered in as the writing is pin sharp and the production is by no less than Danger Mouse, a fan they've acquired from the first LP rather than just a gun for hire.
There's also a cover of Grace Jones 'Slave to the Rhythm' which disappointed a little, not minimal enough to be striking, not full on enough to be arresting. Of the 2 mixes the one by Marshmellow Mike grooves along very nicely with rolling drums and a sweet bassline.
