For more information on the French Band read on:
1) Sad Disco is Rhesus's first album. The first album already... only the
first album, although an EP in 2002 (Rhesus ep) and a mini album in 2004
(Meanwhile At The Party) have already shown the potential of this young trio
hailing from Grenoble.
Sad Disco confirms this potential, including 12 tracks both pop and precise
that show that they can be sensitive without getting slushy, that they can
make rock music without forgeting melody.
Elected "Best Newcomer of 2004" by the French magazine "Les inrockuptibles"
[French complete culture weekly] Rhesus was formed in June of 2001. The Trio
comprises 24 years old Aurelien (guitarist, lead singer),
Laura ( bass guitar , vocals), and Simon (drums). Theirs is a sensuous, lively
rock that is magnified in live preformances, attaining a shattering vigor on stage.
Since the release of their debut album Sad Disco in october 2005, the band made a european tour, 120 gigs in 14 months, in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Holland, UK, Norway, Luxembourg, Ukraine, playing in the biggest summer festivals (les veilles charrues, paleo festival, rock en seine, rheinkultur...)
The boys and the girl are now taking a break from touring and are recording the new album ! You can check their studio diary here : http://www.rhesus-web.com/blog
The first single of the new album is expected to be released in may, and the forthcoming second album in september. Keep looking for it !
The band is also on the road before the release of the new album, so check the gigs section !
2) Rhesus UK - Crunching guitars, soaring vocals, ballad to funk, metal to punk, Rhesus tests musicianship to the maximum. And they wouldn't have it any other way. The core values found in Rhesus are unchanged since the first incarnation of the band way back in 2000. They play solid, well written, melodic songs - and they play them well. Rhesus are able to move from a ballad to a punk song and stay recognisable as "Rhesus" with their tight drums, strong vocals, harmonies and guitars leading the way. Don't just take our word for it, Beacon Radio DJ Andy Nash described Rhesus as "Bloomin' Brilliant" and "Dead Good". Surface Unsiged said that we had: "Real emotion and depth in their lyrical content showing a real talent for writing and composing material ... they have catchy sing along lyrics performed strongly mixed in with a strong tight guitar and drum performance they proved to pull off an impressive show."
