Sore Thumb
By Fujiya & Miyagi
Brighton band Fujiya & Miyagi release their latest single, 'Sore Thumb' on 6th April. It's a motoring techno sound that certainly doesn't shy away from being all out pop. With not enough electronic parts to make it dance but too robotic for indie, Fujiya & Miyagi seem to straddle the ground that fans of Hot Chip may appreciate, with their processed, rhythmic style. Rounded, funky guitars and hand clap drum machine adorn this track, which is essentially a little too inoffensive and mundane to really capture the imagination.
'Sore Thumb' is a somewhat sterile trip through the current fixation with borrowed Krautrock stylings. Although an insatiable groove and undeniably cool, frosty vocals save this one from the rubbish.
