Solo mad-scientist of a live-looper with a melancholic sound and distinctive voice
Charlie Barnes is a solo artist from Huddersfield who makes electronic music all on his own. Championed by Amplifier's Neil Mahony, Charlie completed his first UK tour in March 2009 opening for Amplifier, which including performing to a sold out Camden Barfly. Charlie's live set is a tour-de-force in multi-tasking, incorporating live looping, beatboxing, vocoding and epic vocal layering. Radio 1's Jo Whiley described Charlie's voice as 'melancholic' and akin to Mr Rufus Wainwright. Charlie has released an E.P. entitled 'No Offenkk' containing 4 tracks, which is available via iTunes and can be ordered in hard copy from his Myspace page.
