Carry Your Heart

By Catherine AD

After falling down some stairs, breaking her back and with that ending her lifelong dreams of becoming a dancer, in her first week at university Catherine Anne Davies decided to teach herself the piano. Immersing herself in a world of books and music, she switched to study two simultaneous degrees and mastered the guitar, piano, flute, banjo and "the art of heavy drinking" as she puts it.

Catherine's music doesn't stand back with the rest of the influx of female singer songwriters that have appeared from the woodwork recently. It punches you in the face as you walk by, rather than sinking back into the wall. This debut EP precedes a forthcoming album which will no doubt follow in the same vein. Described as "a voice that sounds like a lake of black honey," "kooky and spooky and very good" and "gorgeous, sick, beautiful." The three tracks of 'Carry Your Heart' include Catherine's own dreamlike take on 'The Book Of Love,' and that I think, may help us all come to a conclusion of this artist. She describes her work as "like pirate radio for the heartbroken." I agree, there is definite heartbreak here...
