Finders Keepers
By You Me At Six
Surrey's You Me At Six religiously plough The Academy Is.../The Audition/Attack! Attack! pop-punk furrow. If you love Fall Out Boy, then You Me At Six are the band to tide you over until the next F.O.B album.
A few shades poppier than previous You Me At Six releases, 'Finders Keepers' is relationship-orientated teenage angst packed full of sing along lyrics and polished pop-punk riffs, and featuring the massive, sugar rush chorus that's become a genre staple.
'Finders Keepers' does take on a heavier edge as it progresses, building from a funky, vocally-driven first verse, to a dramatic bridge of thumping drumbeats and walls of shiny, mock-rock guitars.
To ask for originality from such an over-prescribed genre is pointless, but You Me At Six perform a small miracle by imbuing this song's standard, sing along pop-punk chorus with just enough character to prevent the listener from feeling they've heard this all before.
You Me At Six are one of the better bands currently pedalling this sort of music, and pop-punk fans will undoubtedly lap this up.
