The Hickey Underworld are a band hailing from Belgium, but never fear if you can't speak their language (myself include) as the vocals are in English. 'Mystery Bruise' is the most recent single from their self titled debut record and put simply, it's an awesome tune.
The first few stabs of the guitar may lower your expectations, but stick with it and you'll end up with a song which sounds like the lovechild of dEUS and Alkaline Trio. It's raw, powerful and once the drums kick in, it becomes a standout quality song.
'Mystery Bruise' has the gritty vocals to satisfy any rock fan, and an unexpectedly light pre-chorus to satisfy anyone with pop leanings. This is a very good record by a good band, that's for sure.
