Wild Young Hearts

By The Noisettes

To be honest, I wasn't overly fussed about getting my hands on this album. The only reason was I had 'Don't Upset The Rhythm' playing over in my head again and again due to its incessant use on television and on the radio waves. Aside from this, there isn't much to it.

To me it all seems slightly dated. What I heard back in the 90's or early in this decade. Granted, I'll say that the voice on Shingai Shoniwa is brilliant, smoky, croaky and quite a croon. Mixing disco with jazz, pop songs with funk grooves, The Noisettes have got a lot going on, but I kind of lost interest. It's fun while it lasts. The general sound gets a tad slow after a while, though.

I wouldn't buy it, but I can see why people would enjoy the listen. It's relaxing, influenced from a wide array of musical genres and they definitely have talent, but for me, it lacks somewhat of a punch.
