By This Is Radio Freedom
In supplying a shiny slice of stabbing synth-pop, the curiously monikered This Is Radio Freedom hasn't necessarily done anything startlingly original. However, the irresistible forward propulsion of this tune means that it does stand out from the blander morass of this summer's retro-futuristic offerings.
What's really likely to make this 7" worthy of the cover price, however, is the flip-side remix by Dan le Sac. (Presumably this is the same laptop-loving baldie who, in another incarnation, makes his chum Scroobius Pip's big beard and preaching tone both less annoying and more danceable.) Coming over, as it does, like Pink Grease under a glistening chrome sheen, this is the version of 'Family Man' more likely to keep the dancefloor busy and the punters happy. "Tie my hands and I'll still put them in the air..." Wise words, Mr. Freedom.
