By Lethal Bizzle
Three seconds into 'Going Out Tonight,' the second single to be taken from Lethal Bizzle's forthcoming third album, and you'll be wondering what the Download organisers were smoking when they booked Lethal Bizzle to play the festival in 2008.
'Going Out Tonight' boasts a handful of tongue-in-cheek lyrics; "I just got paid / so we're going out tonight" and "I'm a rude boy / but I'm not being rude / I apologise for not saying please" displays a light-heartedness often missing from the genre. Also suggesting Lethal Bizzle doesn't take himself too seriously, are a falsetto, horror movie scream that bursts from 'The Bizzle' when you're least expecting it, and the inexplicable sound of a car honking at the start of the track. Beyond the humour, there's a catchy, crunching electro backing beat and the obligatory breathy female backing vocals.
'Going Out Tonight's slick electro hooks will probably see it fair tolerably well on the club scene, while its humorous touches may draw a few smiles from those who'd normally give rap a wide berth.
