By Elliot Minor
Elliot Minor's new single, 'Electric High' replaces the giddy, classical-music swirl of previous singles 'Parallel Worlds' and 'Jessica,' with wailing, classy guitars and a towering pop-punk chorus of glimmering chords and addictively breathy vocals.
While the vocals would fit perfectly into a full-blown pop song, there's a few neat hooks buried in that twinkling, inoffensive light-rock backing track. 'Electric High' is far from life-changing, but it's an enjoyable soft-rock stomp, with some ingeniously lilting vocals that'll have this song knocking around in your head for a considerable time after you've moved onto something more challenging. And, for once, this is pop-punk sung by a youthful band, with lyrics that won't have you curling your toes in embarrassment.
