Jackie O

Live at Cockpit on Saturday, 29th March 2003

It's improbable that a bloke from Salford is really called Jackson Starfield, but I'm prepared to accept it. After all, he is backed by the bass mithering Jojo and drum pummeling Sister Ruth. Together this trio makeup the North West's answer to Jon Spencer, the mighty Jackie O. For 25 minutes, things are hit, arms and hands suffer injury, ears get a good cleanout, and we stand and watch with gobs wide open, the slobber cascading down to the ever ale soaked Rocket floor. I'm not entirely sure how many songs were played, as Jackson seems to start songs then stop, then just go off on one and forget what he's doing, but it never falls down. Great. A polite request for Jojo's t-shirt afterwards brings a polite but firm "fuck off" for Henri les Flames! In conlusion then, see them rip apart the George, supported by Wrath's mighty The Scaramanga Six + The Black Helicopters, on Friday 18th April.
