This song hits you in the face right from the beginning. The crunchy guitars and ballsy vocals at first make you feel like you are listening to the raw energy and talent of a fully blown rock outfit. However, just twenty four seconds in, Kaleidophone turn you upside down by changing the feel and breaking down into a wonderful indie/disco beat that really works.
The vocals are nice and strong and the lyrical content is really nice, using a good mixture of metaphorical and literal language. The melodies are also very catchy, the repeated line in the chorus coming away just before you get bored so that the listener is completely satisfied by the epic 'Mo-Mo-Mo-Mo-Motorbike!' lyric.
The rest of the band also play their part excellently. Drums, bass and electric guitar all sit together really well and you get the distinct impression that this is a band that really work on their sound and want it to be perfect.
So to conclude, 'Fat Cats' is a downright rockin' tune (that's the only description I can use, apostrophe and all!) that you can't help but tap your foot to and grin because of the excited music machine inside you that wants to shake its head in every direction before destroying a TV. This tune is going on my ipod right now and I hope to God that I get to review these guys again!
