The second single to be lifted off Alberta Cross' debut album, 'Taking Control' is foot-stamping alt-rock, awash with expansive sound effects and threaded through with Peter Ericson Stakee's luxuriantly hazy vocals.
'Taking Control' boasts a richly-layered head-trip of a chorus, with jangly, indie-rock guitars, laced with spine-tingling "whooooo-ooooooh" backing vocals and eerie sound effects that echo away into the song's distant corners to create a sense of space.
Alberta Cross are guilty of killing slightly too much time between those head-spinning choruses, but when they pick up the pace and sweep into said chorus, all is forgiven.
