The High Wire: Odds And Evens

2.5
The new single from London-based trio The High Wire is hand-clap studded guitar-pop. The breezy combination of hand-claps and springy acoustic guitar is balanced out by a touch of darkness to the dreamy vocals and a light veneer of buzzy electric guitar. Both bring extra weight to what could otherwise have been irritatingly chirpy, vapid pop.

However, the organ that begins blaring roughly one quarter of the way into the song, is far too harsh for a track that so clearly wants to be a gorgeous, heady musical head-trip.

An enjoyable, foot-tapping alt-pop fug, but that abrasive organ will prevent you from sinking fully into 'Odds And Evens's shimmering strains.
