Charlotte Gainsbourg: Heaven Can Wait

3
After winning the Best Actress Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival for her role in controversial horror film 'Antichrist,' French actress and singer-songwriter Charlotte Gainsbourg releases 'Heaven Can Wait,' the first single from her forthcoming 'IRM' album.

A twangy alt-folk rollick featuring co-vocals from Beck, 'Heaven Can Wait's ramshackle, country-bumpkin melodies are alternately sharpened by clunky piano, and softened by luxurious layers of alt-pop vocals. The lyrics have a touch of folklore obscurity to them, which puts the final, intriguing twist on this enjoyable track. It isn't particularly memorable, but its alt-folk quirkiness is bang on trend, and its sheer timeliness is likely to win Gainsbourg a much wider audience.
