Bright Lights

By Placebo

Fans of the claustrophobia, drugged-up atmospherics and poetic ugliness of Placebo's previous album, 'Meds' - prepare to be disappointed, as the three-piece make a return to the synth-packed rock of 'Sleeping With Ghosts,' but with an extra dash of happiness and sunshine.

Once you get over your disorientation at the usually angsty frontman wailing ecstatically that "no one can take it away from me," against a backdrop of bubbly synths and euphoric, sighing backing vocals, 'Bright Lights' is a bright and breezy updraft. It cuts a nice contrast against 'Meds,' but if you're a fan of that album, or any of Placebo's sleazier, grubbier backcatalogue, then chances are 'Bright Lights' will be a little too sugary for your tastebuds.
