Last year the Leeds-based collective Diff'rent Strokes unleashed the hip hop night 'Golden Mic Challange' on Leeds.

GMC was a competition designed to both unite a scene and inspire the musicians involved to better themselves. ABD from Alphabetix won the GMC in 2009.

Due to the hype and success received, the organisers have revealed The Golden Mic Challenge 2010 in its new home at Subculture.

The event consists of 8 MCs who will battle it out to be on top.

Round one takes place on 13th March with special guest Mystro. Round two is on 10th April with special guest Dubbledge. The final will take place on 8th May.

Both heats and the final will take place at Subculture and the event organisers are planning on offering "3 intense nights of real talent, great music and all around feel-good vibes".

The final will be judged by some of the finest UK hip hop legends. Last year was judged by Certified Banger, Breaking The Illusion, Monkee (Invzible Circle) & Blade (691).
