I have this problem with Blink 182. At first I hated them, with their oh so funny fart jokes and massive over exposure, then I heard the albums and really liked them for their clever, witty and well written songs, then I saw them live and hated them again for their piss poor performance, lack of drive and reliance on dog/ dad/ dinosaur raping antics. Then I heard the Boxcar racer album and realized that what I hated was not Blink 182, oh no, what I hated was Mark Hoppus.
Mark Hoppus tried his best to ruin what was actually an enjoyable set by Blink this year. In a mixture of irritating voice, inability to sing to any key and average guitar playing, (combined with all those terrible "lets be really offensive" jokes) he over shadows the obvious talent of the other members.
Aside from my personal issues with Hoppus, blink played a good set of staple classics mixed with some new tracks from the forthcoming album. These new tracks take on a more hardcore approach, and one gets the feeling that having been world superstars, Blink 182 want to be punks again.
Closing the set with Dammit, this was Blink at their very best, and though I'd rather see Boxcar racer, I will certainly be digging out my Blink Cd's once again.
