Call Out

By Feeder

Previewed earlier this year on Feeder's two 'secret' Renegades tours, 'Call Out' sees Feeder make a conscious effort to shake off the last half a decade of their musical career, and recapture some of the grit of 'Polythene' and 'Yesterday Went Too Soon'-era Feeder.

'Call Out' is the sound of a band who've suddenly - and, let's face it, completely unexpectedly - rediscovered what made them great in the first place (it's hard to believe Feeder made it into Metal Hammer's 1999 list when you take into consideration songs like 'Pushing The Senses' and 'Tender.') True, the chorus is completely uninspired ("if you wanna hear this song / if you wanna hear this song / you just call out") but this is a thumping, red-blooded slab of guitar rock that packs the sort of punch Feeder have been lacking for a long time. The wonderful sound of a band who have taken a step away from the Keane/Coldplay school of radio-rock, and gone back to the rawer, guitar-heavy sound of old.
