Canadian indie rock duo Japandroids release 'Heavenward Grand Prix', the third in their series of five special 7" releases throughout the year. This newly released track (like all of the 7" offerings) is taken from material which was cut from the band's 2008 breakthrough 'Post-Nothing' but don't let that deceive you, 'Heavenward Grand Prix' could have sat quite easily amongst the songs on their full-length release. While the song is nowhere near as frenzied as the band at their best, say on 'Young Hearts Spark Fire' or 'Wet Hair' this mid-tempo track still has that fuzzy post-punk vibe which makes Japandroids great. Plus the B-side is a brilliant over of PJ Harvey's 'Shame. Well worth a listen. 'Heavenward Grand Prix' is due for physical release in November through Polydor Records.
