By Foxy Shazam
Rock and roll gets a shot of soul on Foxy Shazam's debut UK single, 'Oh Lord.' Everything about this song screams with the over-the-top emotion your average band spend the first two minutes building towards. 'Oh Lord' reaches a crescendo approximately three seconds in, and then simply refuses to come down. There's a brass section; a frontman with a voice your average diva would be proud of, who warbles at the top of his voice during the verses, and then warbles even louder during the choruses; and a choir who clap their hands and "yeah-yeah-yeah!" in enthusiastic gospel fashion.
A screeching banshee of a song, spearheaded by a vocalist who can blast out notes that'll have your jaw hitting the floor. Most of the time, you won't understand a word he's shrieking about, but his delivery is so ludicrously theatrical, he'll have you hanging on his every word. A must-hear single.
