By Mother Mother
One of the less abrasive cuts from their 'O My Heart' album (certainly when compared to previous singles 'Hay Loft' and title track 'O My Heart') 'Body Of Years' is sticky-centred pop smothered in those intricate, interchangeable tri-vocals Mother Mother do so unnaturally well. As ever, the vocals merge and contrast with hypnotising effect and, although this is less in-your-face than usual, the patter of the bass and the relentless push of those vocals, means this deceptive, quirky little song is a force to be reckoned with.
For the B-side, Mother Mother return to their 2005 debut full-length, with previous album track 'Touch Up.' This song is a grower, as there's something oddly robotic about the rapid-fire vocals, and the song wanders off on a few strange, random tangents during the closing minute. But, there's just enough glimmers of pop perfect to give this song its own charm, and the infectious patter of the A-side more than makes this single worth checking out.
