'2010' was a 2 CD release comprising of a live set and brand new tracks from the Italian DJ. This is being followed up with two 4 track releases, remixing every track on that second CD. He's doing this because he knows it will sell based on his reputation alone. A staple on the scene for many a year, having released tracks on a wide range of labels including his own BXR, a genuine superstar DJ who finished off space at Ibiza this year.
His constant touring will help promote what is another very strong release, and visa versa. Having chosen various DJ's and producers to do the re-workings, as well as one of his own under the name Meganite, both releases together make a great album, or stand alone as 12"s.
A well put together album, it acts like a mini set, designed to make you dance. No introspection or attempts at being clever, this is top quality techno, no fillers or cheesy moments. To show the inventiveness of the remixes, the first two tracks are versions of the same tune, by different producers. But it is only spotted by reading the track listing, the completely different rhythms conspire to move the album along nicely, and by track 4 the beat has become that familiar thud.
The bass starts to saw on track 5 with the industrial techno decoration drifting around a great groove. And great grooves is a good way to sum this up. Mauro's experience shows through in the production and construction of the album. Bound to sell well, and rightly so.
