As soon as EP opener kicks starts, it's difficult to keep away from mentioning other successful bands, such as You Me At Six, which sound incredibly similar, to Francesqa's sound.
However, as 'We Lived' continues with its infectious and soothing melodies, it's a nice little EP to kick back and relax with on an evening. 'Hopeful' is full of foot-tapping drums and head-nodding lyrics to match. This is a song, one can picture being played to several thousand kids at a festival in summertime.
Francesqa are currently on a tour of the UK, putting them out there to gain more of a fan base. I say more, as the buzz surrounding them on the internet is phenomenal, with an EP and well played latest video 'All I Had,' circulating the TV channels, it's clear to see the five piece are set to dominate this year.
In 2010 Tom Delonge of Blink 182 fame picked Francesqa to perform at Leeds Slam Dunk Festival, and also bagged the tour support slot for The Pretty Reckless (Taylor Momsens rock band respectively), so the Newbury lads must be doing something right.
'We Lived' throws out electronic sounds with hard hitting base, which is a perfect combination on most of the songs, but with that also comes the melodic vocals of Ashley Wilkie.
After the EP comes to an end with 'Ghosts,' an acoustic song, it leaves one feeling chilled out and wanting to listen to more of Francesqa's soulful sound.
