By Bombay Bicycle Club
Indie-giants Bombay Bicycle Club have banged out another masterpiece with the advent of new single "Shuffle". The four-piece continue to build on a mountain of talent with the release of this Blues-Rock gem. By the 29th August this year the band will have released three studio-albums, a phenomenal achievement. As well as being one of the hardest-working bands around, Bombay Bicycle Club have the purest of recording styles. The new album was written with no interference from anyone else and they weren't afraid to experiment and tweak each track. That approach has flourished in the form of "Shuffle" which has depth and profundity beyond the first listen.
It starts with a sun-soaked piano splash. This is accompanied by angelic backing-vocals courtesy of Lucy Rose, bursts of pert bass and percussion claps. Jack Steadman delivers once again with a charming chorus that slips into a harmonic groove. "Shuffle" enshrouds the listener in a dreamy whirlwind as the words "Once you get the feeling that" charm the ear.
At the very mid-point of the track it falls away from all the chiming euphoria to unveil aerated vocals and choir-like drones. "I will stay here, I will not go" is not only a delightful lyric but it signifies that this band isn't leaving anytime soon, especially with more releases like this one. The song dives back into the joyous chorus and rounds off on a fizz of cymbals. This single is exceptional. Many fans are now longing for album number three "A Different Kind of Fix" which is released 29th August this year. Finally we can be proud to say "Every Day I'm Shuffling" all thanks to this wondrous North-London quartet.
