Dananananaykroyd

Live at Leeds Festival 2011 on Friday, 26th August 2011

With the weather trying to dampen spirits before the festival had even got going many were thankful for the shelter provided by the Radio 1 / NME tent. They should also have been thankful too for Dananananaykroyd's energetic opening set.

With a dual frontman combo spitting out vocals over a wonderous wail of 80's and 90's infused pop the band soon had the crowd moving about and kicking the festival into action. The Glaswegian band's screaming frontmen working the lengthy stage and putting on the kind of performance that you wish all opening bands would display.

It's a compliment to say that the band reminded me of a punked up Deacon Blue, with each song's easy on the ear melody contrasting joyously with the aggressive vocals. A great way to spark the weekend into life and a fine advert for Scottish pop/rock.
