The Gift are a three-piece consisting of Sean (bass/vocals), Nathan (guitar) and Jon (drums). This three track CD runs in at just under nine minutes and in attitude and style alone sounds more akin to 1970s punk - perhaps more so than anything that takes that name today. Of the songs featured, the second "What You've Got" is the best with a strong chorus melody and plenty of attitude in Sean's delivery.

One thing to be said is that the songs all feature similar musical patterns, i.e. they all start with a bass solo, which becomes noticeable by the third song. This is not aided by a slightly shifting production. It seems that the band are not doing themselves justice, but as Sean sings "Doesn't matter what you say, Makes no difference anyway" in "Fused", the first track; I'm sure they don't really care.

The Gift definitely show potential, they just need to work more on songwriting to take them that stage further.
