Biography
Bahraini/Austrian songwriter Dana Zeera and London born guitarist Oliver Drake formed The Straylings in 2007. June last year saw the release of their debut Ep - released with Things To Make & Do Records/PIAS - gaining them praise from Kramer (producer for Low, Galaxie 500) and Steve Lamacq amongst others - championing tracks on his BBC show.
Joined by various friends in the studio and on stage, they have recently played to a number of sold out venues in London and recently headlined the Barfly Camden. Artrocker Magazine recently described their performance as; "Compelling...Straylings serve up cinematic heartbreak with a side dose of opium...somewhere between Mazzy Star and Jefferson Airplane"...swirling, reverb-soaked guitars sit alongside rolling, restless beats and sultry, unyielding vocals.
After a summer of cabin fever, recording in hallways and basements, The Straylings have now completed their debut album, with John O'Mahony (Metric, Alberta Cross) mixing the first single from the album. 'Carver's Kicks' is due for release 27th June, courtesy of Deadpan Records, with an album to follow later in the year.
