Organisers have today released details of the 60 bands selected to take part in the Futuresound 2012 competition this summer to battle it out in the hope of winning one of six places available at Leeds Festival 2012.

Now entering its 12th year, the annual event is hugely popular and several hundred local bands and musicians entered once again.

The six winning bands will take to the stage at both the Leeds and Reading festivals, with the overall winner playing on the NME Radio One Stage.

The top six will be announced in July.
