By The Hubble Constant
Why? What on earth have I done to deserve this horrible, ear destroying treatment?
It's just noise. Loud, harsh, brutal noise.
'Delta S' by The Hubble Constant falls somewhere between the 'Bleach' album by Nirvana, and the sound of Gordon Ramsay's entire pan collection being dropped off the top of the Eiffel Tower onto a herd of cats.
I understand that many artists want to push the boat out, try out new ideas, go against the grain and think outside the box. But come on, there is a limit. Convention isn't conventional for no reason.
I'm not suggesting that all bands should write songs in the 'verse, chorus, verse, chorus, middle 8, chorus' mold. But The Hubble Constant seem to have taken snippets of punk, metal and post hardcore phrases and just haphazardly stuck them all together to make an album. It's incoherent and messy.
Maybe it took a lot of effort to write these many off-key riffs and record these manipulated and distorted guitar sounds? Or maybe it didn't? It's hard to tell with this sort of thing.
But in the end, though, it doesn't really matter. Because all that really does matter is the enjoyment of the listener, and I'm sorry, but I don't know of anyone 'alternative' enough of mental enough to enjoy this.
