Frame of Mind
By The Repeat Offenders
It often feels like there's something secret about acoustic EPs; as though we are privy to something that we weren't really meant to hear.
Whether we were meant to hear it or not, The Repeat Offenders' new offering 'Frame of Mind' is certainly worth a listen; five understated tracks that highlight the vocals of lead singer Andrew Ruddick, played out against infectious guitar rhythms.
'Dirty Stop Out' and 'Fade Away' are fast paced tracks before 'Perplexed Mind' drops it down a gear. 'Take A Stand' puts the foot back on the accelerator before new song 'Beg, Steal or Borrow' demos another lower-geared lament.
Despite being formed down south, there's something Arctic-Monkeys-Esque about this lot (and yes, I realise how big a statement that is) but give them a listen and you'll get my drift.
A very promising offering from this bunch - they'll go far on this evidence.
