Life Is Wasted On The Living

By Fin

I have been aware of fiN for some time. They are a four piece, class, pop-fuelled indie-rock band from London. A self propelled band, made up of Luke Joyce on Vocals/Guitar, Jonny Garner on Guitar, Kerry Lambert on Bass, Simon Harding on Drums. Let's be clear from the start...fiN, not to be confused with the largely mediocre and relatively underwhelming, Fun!! fiN are more akin to (fellow London based band) Tribes, sprinkled with a hint of The Wombats, a huge serving of energy and infused with healthy measure of guitar.

I have to reference fiN's early releases; Eve, The Artisan and Rapture, which are little belters, just waiting to be discovered. So when 'Life Is Wasted On The Living', landed in my lap 'Lucky Me' (no pun intended), I got the chance to hear this before the masses...

This new release is a good progression with weighty and crashing guitars that underpins the catchy vocals. 'Life Is Wasted On The Living', is an instant like from the first listen. These boys produce proper class, English accented, indie-rock, with the right balance of angst and aggression. They make a subject with a slightly sombre undertone, an upbeat happy and bouncing affair. It deals with the blissful ignorance of people who are led, and let life pass them by. Let's face it, we all know one!

'Lucky You' demonstrates the stronger vocal ability of the band and a slightly softer side to fiN. Maybe the whole EP is a stab at the world who are easily molded by those around. Somehow, I think the strong collective will of fiN, will always go their own way! I get the hint that they are leading the crowd and as a self-funded, self promoted band...they are not shy of a challenge.

Get your ears open and listen to this! I would bet that these boys will be hitting our radio in the not too distant future.

Check out their videos too, but be prepared, this is infectious!! A few listens in, their lines will be implanted in your brain! This EP should also come with a parental advisory notice...'Likely to be played repeatedly at high volume!'

Love it already!!
