By Hello Lazarus
This is the third EP from Bristol boys, Hello Lazarus, who produce some of the finest rock riffs you will hear this year.
From the first chord, you appreciate the unmistakable sound of Hello Lazarus, hitting you with aggressive beats and full on guitars. 'When in Rome' is the first track to be unleashed from my speakers, it builds to an intense peak, offers a gentle respite, before thrashing out every last note. A great opener!
Dispensing great rhythms, 'Get an Axe', is classic hard, hitting full-on helping of rock infused deliciousness! If this was food, it would be a huge rack of ribs, the half-a-cow kind, the ones you can't wait to get your hands dirty and sink your teeth in to. Leading you nicely in to 'Stallions', which drops in to a cleverly constructed layer cake of synths over furious beats, culminating in a frantic all thrashing and raucous vocal.
Now, as much as I like the infectious riffs and crashing drums, I do like the softer side of Hello Lazarus. 'I Am No Explorer' takes it down a notch, allowing the diverse vocal range of Luke Taylor to shine. This song in particular, shows the bands progression and is a slight change of style from the preceding tracks, but there is still that common thread that binds them.
This is a dynamic follow up to their self titled EP, which is still a permanent fixture in my cars CD selection. You have to hand it to them, these boys know how to pack a punch and they pull out another infectious belter. But I still don't have an answer! WHEN IS THE ALBUM OUT??!!
