Flame Out / The Olde Original

By Paul Weller

Happy Record Store Day everyone! Sorry I'm a bit late but I've been updating my Spotify playlists. I've got one for every genre, including the likes of shoegaze, chillwave (well, Toro Y Moi) and banal mod shit for casuals desperate for it to be the 80s again. And for only 10 a month. Wowzers.

I think you've only got a few days left to download this, I'm not sure. Maybe the moment has already been and gone? Oh, who am I kidding, it's on Spotify of course! So much for Record Store Day...

In all seriousness (hurhur) we should champion Paul Weller for his support of such a valid cause. I don't think there is a record store in York anymore and if there is then I don't know about it. It's a good job my mum likes Cascada and Pitbull or else I'd be stumped for Christmas and birthday presents, with HMV the only port of call. That said, there's no disguising that these two songs are among some of the most dirge peddling retro rock plodders of our time, a couple of neglected B-Sides binned off by the Modfather to throw at charity. Anyone remember the Warchild albums? Fucking hell, I do.

Nevermind though, somewhere Roger Daltrey is sat on a throne, glass in hand, legs kicked back, velvet dressing gown on thinking "yeah, this is quite good this." Everyone else, imagine that Quadrophenia had been filmed in Dewsbury...
