As soon as I heard Letlive were back with a new song/ tour/ album I had to be in on it. Their last album Fake History was so good, and not in a certain alternative music magazine stuck them on the cover kinda good, as in, I heard it before the hype and I knew it was special!
I downloaded from Itunes their new single Banshee (Ghost Fame), yes I paid for it, and it was well worth 79p as expected. It is a wonderful mix of screams, loud music and catchy tunes. So, after that I needed to hear their upcoming album, The Blackest Beautiful.
Their Youtube stream started a couple of weeks after I got the single, and along came the infectious hooks and brilliant vocals from Jason Butler, that makes the perfect Letlive Record.
As the album progresses, so do the songs that could easily fit onto a festival bill and summer playlist.
My stand out tracks being current single, Banshee, Dreamer's Disease for its riffs and Younger, for the lyrics. Every track on this album has a different feel and attitude. I hate quiet, slow songs and this is the opposite of that, which is, therefore, my perfect album.
I don't usually go for American bands, I am pretty patriotic in my music tastes, but I love this band's musical attitude and have to play it at full volume, every day until I hear this live in The Cockpit, later on this year. Where Jason is running around the stage and the band are filing the main room with a brilliant soundtrack.
Roll on October, for the live version of this.
