Steve Hackett

Live at Leeds Town Hall on Tuesday, 20th October 2015

The setting for this gig could not be better, Steve Hackett playing a selection of solo works and genesis songs in such a mesmerizing setting was how I expected genesis to look and sound.

Steve Hackett played two sets, the first part was mainly from his back catalogue and new solo album, starting the show with epic sweeping guitar playing and solos, which all sounded like some soundtrack to crazy dream.

Steve Hackett's playing was on form, not much audience interactions, but people mostly wanted to hear the music, so he just got on with it.

I enjoyed the first set, but could not wait till the second half, it was the genesis part I had come to see.

After a small interval the genesis songs started, I was not disappointed with any of this set, playing songs from foxtrot, selling England by the pound and the lamb lies down, with Nad Sylvian doing the vocals and doing a good job of it, I never thought any one could recreate the Gabriel years, but Nad Sylvian did fine renditions.

Oh dear. Nick Beggs wasn't in the band. Bass and 12 string were played by Roine Stolt

Was sure that's who he said. I know he had played with them before.
