This three song demo sliced from their recent EP clearly shows Amigo's ambitions and failings. They stride boldly on a path above the average but the reedy recording and horrible plastic guitar effects go a long way to hampering a fairly decent stab.
Like so many Amigo are proficient at providing the right ingredients but just lack that world beating recipe into which to put them. Opener "Deep Water / Shallow Moment" comes the closest with it's confusing blend of Radiohead melancholy and Vines swagger. "Flame" passes with out much bother and closer "Road With Cyprus and Star" offers an acoustic indie ballad. All suffer in the memorability stakes and if Amigo are to continue in the right direction, the ear for a melody which they clearly possess, needs to be honed into an output with a little more bite.
