Desert Sessions 9/10: I See You Hearin Me/I Heart Disco

By Desert Sessions

The world's coolest ginger haired person (the only cool ginger haired person come to think of it) Josh Homme (QOTSA) returns with the 9th and 10th instalments of his Desert Sessions series. As usual he's brought some friends, Twiggy Ramirez, Chris Goss to name a few as well as Britain's own PJ Harvey.

Opening with the instantly catchy "Dead In Love" which grabs you straight by the nuts before slowly drifting off into a world of eerie piano.

Considering this album was recorded within a matter of days it is truly a lesson in music with each individual bringing their own unique outlook on music to the fold. PJ Harvey excelling when given the chance especially on "There will never be a better Time" which was amazingly recorded in just one take where she manages to capture emotion in her voice that most bands spend months of recording trying to emulate.

But if you're expecting this to sound like the Queens of the Stone Age you would be very wrong. Each track stands alone completely different from the rest. It really is amazing what can happen when a few friends get together for a drink, a smoke and a good old fashioned jam.
