Leaves Of Grass

By Adam Snyder

Adam Snyder formally of Mercury Rev has struck out on his own with his debut album Across The Pond. Leaves of grass is the second single to be taken from this album and I have to say that it is the most upbeat alternative country anthem I've heard in a very long time.

Looking outside on a Thursday afternoon it's cold, it's wet and I've got one hell of a hangover from celebrating St Patrick's Day yet as soon as I hear Leaves of Grass I can not help but smile. The sound of acoustic guitars being washed over lush female vocal harmonies is an instant pick me up for anyone who's feeling down.

This is addictive and refreshing due to Adam Snyder's unique delivery of his songs. His heart felt lyrics telling of past adventures are coupled with a hint of electronic weirdness lurking in the background that adds to the numerous levels of intricate music that aid in producing the best 3 minutes 39 seconds worth of music I've heard in a long time.

If this is anything to go by the album must be something very special.
