Cult chilled outfit Fridge have spawned yet another success with another 3rd of their ranks following in the footsteps of Four Tet and producing a damn fine solo project. Much more accessible than the mothership, Adem has that noticeable difference of adding some vocals to the mix, and what a simple but effective master stroke.
Music for lying in your garden on a warm dry August evening, or lighting candles and forgetting the rigours of the week, tones that conjure up pure relaxation and not a panpipe or Japanese water feature in sight. Slow plucked guitar trembles under crisp smokey vocals, all the time allowing a rich variety of percussive friends to chatter in the background, whistle on a recorder, indulge in a glockenspiel moment and just enjoy the mood.
"These are your friends" is a priceless gem and although accompanied by some excellent B-sides full of empathy for its acoustic tones, it really should be your push to buy the album "Homesongs" so you may enjoy longer sessions of serenity than the mere four songs on offer here. A true classic in the making that deserves to be lauded even higher than the likes of recent acoustic champion Damien Rice.
