Accidentally In Love

By Counting Crows

So the story goes, Adam Duritz got a phone call from Dreamworks asking him to write a song for the new Shrek film but with only one remit... "it's for the honeymoon scene so it has to be happy, happy, happy, up, up, up!!!". At which point Duritz enquired as to who the hell had suggested him! A departure from the band's usual melancholic beauty Counting Crows have managed to fulfill their task with honours. Bright and breezy pop music tripping along across a double tap snare drum beat. Duritz has one of the finest voices around, insantly recognisable and full of emotion. Hey you actually believe he's happy for once! This is the kind of pop music that could have been given to a quartet of pre-pubescent youths to ruin with weak vocal performances and over use of studio wizadry. Fortunately for us this fine ship is being steered by a band on top of their game, drippng with sweet harmonies and ear baiting melodies flying at you from all instruments all topped off by the magnificent "Come on, come on..." chorus. Fans should no longer fear the day when Duritz does eventually find happiness.
