You know it's always an oddity when a band are known as well for their odd moniker as they are for their tunes but this Scottish three peice manage to have a large back catalogue that speaks for itself. With a third album in as many years ready for release in October, "Glitter and Trauma" is the first taster and my, what a stormer it is. Fooling you from the start with an odd riff that would have suited an earlier Bowie record, they kick straight into a wall of accessible noise and then drop the song completely to fill the listener with Simon Neil's familiar chirp and a twiddly verse.
Despite the ridiculous chorus chant of "You are the human strobe" the song's full of wonder, and these are backed up by the over powering "Bonanzoid deathgrip" which finishes nicely with completely off the hook screams, and "Stars and Shites" which is a lovely closing acoustic number, showing the more delicate side of the band.
Yet you feel if the mainstream don't catch onto these hooks this time round then the band may fade into obscurity, but with such a cult following and songs like these you really can't imagine the band slowing down just yet.
