By Rising Times
Lee, Kieran, Cameron and Si from Rising Times are the new boys on the English rock scene and they've already made a huge impact, having just supported The Cooper Temple Clause and opened at the QuingDoa International Festival in China in front of 27,000 revellers. It appears that these guys are the ones to watch out for in 2005.
Rising Times are the British equivalent to The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club crossed with what Oasis should be sounding like now. If The Black Rebels have "Whatever happened to my rock and roll" then Rising Times have their "All the way". With a bass line that's thicker than the congealed maple syrup under my kitchen sink these guys have produced a classic rock and roll song that is easily accessible to the mainstream indie scene and they could be the ones to fill in the crater of a black hole left by Oasis when they well... turned to shit to be honest.
Although this song has all the makings of a classic rock song I found that the fiddly soloing towards the end was a bit over the top and brought the tune down a grade but this is made up for by Lee's vocal that manages to maintain the intensity and the rawness of a badger popping pills.
Anyway, Rising Times have shown that they have the ability to put on good live shows and the ability to produce song that appeal to the masses, the question is now can they make it all the way?
