Fall To Pieces

By Velvet Revolver

I'm starting to wish I'd been more into Guns n Roses when I was younger. I also wish I'd taken more notice of the advice that I'd like Stone Temple Pilots. Supergroups are so often a let down but Velvet Revolver really are proving to be an exception to that rule. Weiland's deeply personal lyrics see him give a passionate performance here, ably backed by the tightest of rhythm sections and a wall of guitars that could divide Berlin.

Rock music will never die. Why? Because it seems rock musicians above all others know how to write a killer middle 8. I have a lifelong love of a good middle 8, I don't know why, just it's often my favourite part of a song. The one we get here is great, a wicked chord change, rumbling drum beat and growling vocals that soar back into the chorus, which itself is a thing of magnificence, embedding its melody into your skull.

The guitar solo is of course executed to perfection. This song is one big 80's rock cliche but it's done immaculately. The same applies to the video, which comes on the DVD version of the single. It's cheesy as hell but great at the same time. Oh look Weiland has a drug problem, now Duff is slamming him into walls and telling him to sort himself out, awww now they are hugging, ooh Matt Sorum is making two women kiss, Weiland is ok again and back on stage camping it up, yaaaayyy!

It's just all so perfectly rock n roll that your HiFi will grow its hair long and reek of bourbon for weeks!

Sorry. I'll make sure I'll judge music on it's NME cool levels in future rather than actually listening to musical and lyrical content.
You'd love them if they were from Iceland Si.

Slash is one of the coolest people in rock and roll, I just think it's a shit tune. The video is great for the cheese factor though...

The video is awesome for its cheese factor. Every cliche going in 3 minutes.
The song is amazing though.

Can i just point out that the title at the top of this discussion is:
'velvet revolver fall to pieces'. Have Rightwrong and Siglacken's cruel words affected the band that much?
