By Blind Jackson
"Stop The Clock" introduces us to Blind Jackson with a whiny little guitar riff that intermittently returns. It begins to grate on me quite quickly. On the whole this is a punky slice of guitar pop with a ear friendly vocal melody but without the vocals to back it up. They are not bad, they're just not great, or enough to stand out from the crowd. There is no faulting the playing or production here, but there's nothing to really make you stand up and notice or remember the tune.
The second track is "Mess It Up", more spiky guitar but a better song on the whole. The chorus is very good and just what track one lacked. "Hey... you..." lovely. Still the vocals are a bit of a weak link again, as they are in the third track "You Done Me Wrong". The standard slips a little again, there's nothing to excite or entice and I find the whole song just washing over me. There are moments of promise here but on the whole the songs just aren't enough to really prick up my ears.
