Moon I Hide

By Clayhill

When the majority of the band consist of Beth Orton's co-writers and you're friends with Aqualung, it's a safe bet there will be no three chord punk snorting on show. Instead, as expected, it's a menu of "pain on your sleeve" softly sung modern day lullabies. Keep it quiet and slow and wallow in the splendour of the sound that comes from an acoustic guitar and vocal with meaning. "Moon I hide" is lifted from the bands debut long player and on this evidence it's worth consideration for those lovers of soulful indie folk. Stripped back B-side "Please, please, please let me get what I want" is, as its title suggests, a song for all our everyday frustrations.

Are you sure the b-side isn't a Smiths cover?
